3 New European Bauhaus Open Calls and More in 2022

The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an environmental, economic, and cultural initiative that combines design, sustainability, accessibility, affordability and investment to make the European Green Deal a reality in Europe. The Commission launched three new European Bauhaus open calls for citizens, cities and towns to make an impact on the ground.

"Citizens are key drivers of the transition towards more sustainable, inclusive and beautiful places and lifestyles. The two calls published by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology are supporting their full engagement in development of innovative and collaborative models of local initiatives by offering tailor-made opportunities to them. The New European Bauhaus is made by and for each citizen" said Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

With the launch of NEB LAB co-creation space and soon hosting the New European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels, the New European Bauhaus initiative is warming up to deliver beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive projects to improve our daily lives.

What is the NEB LAB?

The NEB Lab serves as a "think and do tank" for co-creating, prototyping, and testing the tools, ideas, and policy measures that will enable transformation on the ground. The lab will operate as an accelerator and connector.

The lab will continue its community-building journey by embracing real projects inspired by the New European Bauhaus. It will begin with the official Partners, High-Level Roundtable (HLRT) members, New European Bauhaus prize winners and finalists, and National Contact Points.

The Festival of the New European Bauhaus

The Festival of the New European Bauhaus will take place from 9 to 12 June 2022 in Brussels in hybrid form. While the festival's main activities will be in Brussels, there will be NEB side events across Europe.

The festival invites people from all areas of life to discuss and shape our future. A beautiful, inclusive, and sustainable future. It's a fantastic opportunity to network, exchange, and celebrate anything from science to art, design to politics, architecture to technology.

The festival will have three pillars:

The Forum: discuss and exchange ideas about the New European Bauhaus.

The Fair: present and highlight work and prototypes that reflect and support the New European Bauhaus ideals.

The Fest: a moment of celebration bringing together culture, and art, to celebrate freedom of expression with daring, innovative, and disruptive ideas and visions.
