2020 was undeniably the year that changed the world and our perspectives about it. The COVID-19 pandemic put an abrupt halt to our lives, and at the same time, it exposed our unpreparedness as a society to deal with issues like this pandemic.
But to avoid this from happening again, Europe needs novel technologies and disruptive innovations to spearhead the transition to a fairer, greener, more sustainable, digital and resilient future. For this transition to happen, Europe needs more innovation.
One way to achieve this is to identify and gather all the innovation sources inclusively, irrespective of gender. EU Prize for Women Innovators 2021 will try to uncover the creative talent and innovation of European women entrepreneurs.
Why is the EU Prize for Women Innovators Important?
We should all agree that Europe needs more innovation to improve the world we live in and to safeguard that our living standards will not deteriorate as it happened with this pandemic in 2020. To fulfil the Commission’s gender equality strategy seeking to create parity between men and women in the male-dominated entrepreneurial, innovative and academic fields, it is vital to highlight innovative women who work and thrive in groundbreaking fields.
The examples of those women will serve as perfect role models for women and girls everywhere. Hopefully, they will inspire more girls to pursue a career in innovative fields like STEM and go against social stereotypes.
