Interview with IDEC: A Training and Consulting Company from Greece

 1. Tell us more about your organisation

IDEC is a training and consulting company located in Piraeus, Greece, established in 1989.

Its activities include training, management consulting, quality assurance, evaluation and development of digital solutions for private and public sectors. IDEC clients are SMEs and the bigger Greek companies from a wide variety of industries. IDEC co-operates with more than 800 institutes all over Europe and with about 300 experts in specific fields.

Our company has been active for the last 25 years in EU projects. Through its double role, both as an educational provider and as a management consulting company, IDEC has been able to also incorporate best practices from the business sector into education by adjusting them to the spirit of open and sustainable and accessible education for all.

2. What inspired you to create your organisation?

IDEC was founded as a response to the evolving market needs to assist companies in keeping up with the current trends and challenges.

Our founders understood and appreciated lifelong education and the impact it makes on professional and personal life, as well as its interconnection with entrepreneurship. Continuous education and learning represent our mandate, and we firmly believe that can ameliorate society.

3. What is your field of expertise?

Our organisation has consulting experience developing Quality Management systems in Greek training centres. It has been accredited as a lifelong learning centre, organising in-service training courses for teachers and trainers, study visits and informal learning activities for students in initial education and training. It provides training courses and work placements for students in vocational training and people in the labour market.

Throughout the years, we have implemented more than 100 projects, with strong participation in projects related to sustainability and protection of the environment, culture and training delivery for the up/re-skilling of organisations, as well as projects that aim at minimising social injustices.

4. What is your organization's impact on society?

Through its activities, IDEC constantly promotes social inclusion and is mainly active in intercultural dialogue and entrepreneurship.

Since 2019 IDEC has been working on building networks and partnerships of VET providers and the world of work at regional, national and European levels. IDEC also implements as a partner and subcontractor projects in Policy Recommendations and the Greek National Reform of the VET system.

Moreover, our organisation was also part of a Development Project funded under the National Structural Funds for local employment plans and was responsible for counselling and assistance in developing 100 business plans for the creation of new businesses for unemployed youths of Piraeus.
